Why Nadine Chose the Virtual Assistant Life—
and Never Looked Back
Sometimes, life’s biggest adventures start with a little curiosity. For Nadine, that curiosity was wondering how people could earn a living while working from home.
Ten years ago, Nadine decided to try remote work, never imagining how it would completely transform her life. Over the past decade, she has built a successful career as a Virtual Assistant, including the past five years supporting her current client at Summit VA Solutions. What started as an experiment quickly turned into a fulfilling journey that offered flexibility, personal growth, and a lifestyle she didn’t know was possible.
The Early Struggles: Finding Connection in Solitude
When Nadine first started working as a Virtual Assistant, the hardest part wasn’t the workload or learning new skills—it was working alone. Coming from a social lifestyle, she struggled to stay motivated without the daily interactions she was used to. But over time, Nadine found her rhythm.
In a surprising twist, working solo actually improved her communication skills. “I became more vocal about how I feel and what I think,” she says. By asking questions, sharing her thoughts openly, and staying transparent, Nadine built stronger connections with her clients and teammates.
A Day in the Life
Nadine’s workday starts with emails and prioritizing tasks. From creating reports to following up on deadlines, her day is all about making sure things run smoothly. In between admin work, she’s on calls with clients and law offices, discussing cases and ensuring everything is on track.
Juggling multiple projects is no small feat, but Nadine swears by her task list. “It’s the only way to make sure nothing falls through the cracks,” she shares.
Proud Moments and Trust Earned
Over the years, Nadine has had many proud moments, but what stands out most is earning her clients’ trust. One client, in particular, entrusted Nadine to run their entire business while they went on vacation. “For someone to trust you with their business, their baby, is an accomplishment that means the world to me,” she says.
Another unforgettable moment came when a client thanked her in a TV acceptance speech. “She mentioned me alongside her family—it was such a small thing, but it meant so much. It showed me that what I do makes a difference.”
Navigating Remote Challenges
Working with clients you’ve never met in person has its challenges. Nadine remembers the struggle of interpreting emails without the benefit of facial expressions or body language. Her solution? Ask questions. “When you work remotely, you can’t just assume—you have to confirm. It’s better to ask than to guess.”
How Being a VA Changed Her Life
Becoming a Virtual Assistant changed everything for Nadine. It gave her the freedom to travel, explore new places, and see life from different perspectives. “I can work from anywhere,” she says. “It’s given me the liberty to live the life I want while still growing professionally.”
Advice for Aspiring Virtual Assistants
Nadine’s journey has taught her a lot, and she’s eager to share her advice with others:
Don’t give up. Rejection is part of the process, but perseverance pays off.
Keep learning. The more you know, the more opportunities you’ll find.
Know your worth. “If you feel undervalued, maybe you’re in the wrong place,” Nadine says.
For Nadine, being a Virtual Assistant isn’t just about the work—it’s about the relationships she’s built, the trust she’s earned, and the life she’s created. Looking back, what started as a curious experiment has turned into a career she wouldn’t trade for anything.
And for those just starting their own VA journey, Nadine’s message is simple: “Keep going. You’re worth it.”
